What A Summer! Part 1

We can’t believe that August is here and that school is just around the corner! The kids are getting excited for school…and so is mommy, but just a little. :)

We have had quite a busy summer and it seemed as though we were never home, but the memories we made will last a lifetime.

To start off, we will go back to the last day of school. Every year around this time Thomas The Train comes here and so I thought it would be fun to take the kids to see him. Well, I should have looked at where he was going to be instead of just assuming it. Since we were already out, but didn't want to drive another 30 minutes, we ended up not seeing him but instead went to BVF since it was right there.

All my life living here, I have only stopped there once, so it was fun to take the kids to see it. Driving passed, it is a sight to see, but to actually get out and really look at it is a whole other story...it is very beautiful. I also like the "landmarks" of the old tram that would go clear to the top. It was so neat to see those bits of history that have been left there and to imagine what it was like back in the day.

Bryce was having a ball being there and taking advantage of any picture taking opportunity that presented itself...

Emily on the other hand had fallen asleep on our way there and was grumpy because we woke her up. :)

Our next adventure was building our garden. Since it was getting really warm during the day, Blair would go out in the evenings when he had a minute or two and work on it. What a great job he did and we were so excited to see the finished product and to start planting. The kids loved helping us fill it in with the compost and they love to help water the plants. (Wish they felt the same about cleaning their rooms. ;) )

In June, Blair and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary. We had the opportunity to go to Vegas (without the kids) and we took it. We were there for four days and enjoyed every minute of it (well, except for the timeshare presentation that we got sent to 8( ). We stayed at the Encore which was a SUPER nice hotel and had an awesome view of the strip.

We did a lot of sight seeing and even went to a couple of shows. We really enjoyed LeReve, but the Variety Show, not so much.

We were also able to do a session at the Las Vegas Temple. It was so beautiful and it is fun to see how different each temple is.

As we were heading out of town, we still had one thing on our "To Do" list. We wanted to go to the "Pawn Stars" pawn shop (if you have ever watched that show, you will obviously know what I am talking about). Unfortunately, when we got there, there was a pretty long line of people waiting to get in...and we didn't have time to wait. So until next time....
