Our little guy just turned three years old on Saturday and boy, has time flown by! He is getting to be such a big boy and is VERY independent. We celebrated by going to Chuck E. Cheese and then went to our house for cake and ice cream.
Blair and I hadn't been to Chuck E. Cheese since we were kids and it has changed so much. Well, except for the singing characters on the stage. I think those things are thirty years old! And being a Saturday, it was so busy, but the kids had fun and that's all that matters!
Bryce had a lot of fun and talked about it for the rest of the day. He was more into riding the rides rather than playing the games and getting tickets. So, mommy and daddy took care of getting the tickets for him by playing Skee-ball. We were pro's by the time we left! Emily didn't know what to think of the place. She was wide eyed the whole time.
Going somewhere for his birthday was the way to do it. We could just relax and enjoy it rather than stressing out about getting a meal ready, plus the cake and we thought that it would probably have cost us just as much to do dinner at our house.
When we first asked Bryce what kind of cake he wanted, he said he wanted a Bumblebee cake and he told EVERYONE that he was having a Bumblebee cake for his birthday. But as the weeks went by, he changed his mind and decided he wanted an Optimus Prime cake. We already had in mind how to do the Bumblebee cakes, since we had the perfect cake pans, so we made those and Blair was going to try to figure out how to do an Optimus Prime cake, but we ran out of time. Bryce was satisfied and excited with Bumblebee and I think he totally forgot about Optimus Prime.
Grandpa Bingham tried to give Emily a little taste of cake, but she didn't want anything to do with it! She picked it up, dropped it over the edge of her hightchair and onto the floor it went! So it will be interesting to see what happens when she has her birthday in a couple of months.
Bryce was spoiled as usual. This year he got just as many clothes as toys, which is good. He has so many toys already and he grows out of his clothes so fast that we have to buy him a new wardrobe about every four or five months. A couple of his favorite things he got was some little Transformers and a little lunch box from Uncle Robert and his "friend", Eden. Taking those out of the package before he was done opening presents was a bad idea! He would not put them down for the life of him! He puts all his little Transformers in his lunch box and carries them around and takes them with him everywhere!
Now that is has been a couple of days and we have been able to get all of his stuff out of the packages and set up, he has had a ball! He loves playing basketball with his new hoop, he loves his camera and has taken a lot of pictures of the walls, the floor, etc. And he has had a lot of fun playing in his tent. Which is fun for the whole family since we can all fit in there comfortably. We are so grateful to have Bryce in our lives! We can't imagine life without him. Even though he knows how to push our buttons and knows which ones to push, he adds so much joy to our family. We love him very much!
