Both of these days were eventful days, as they are every year. First of all, on the morning of the 24th we decided to go to the parade. The kids loved it! Bryce loved watching everything go by. He even took some pictures of the parade, mostly of the bands, don't ask me why. However, when the Little Caesar guy went past, Bryce wasn't fast enough with the
camera and was very disappointed that he didn't get a picture of him. But the pictures that Bryce did take were pretty decent. Emily didn't really pay too much attention to the parade, she just sat and played with whatever she could find in my purse.Later that day, we went to Blair's parents for some lunch/dinner. Then when it started to get dark, we went outside for Blair's fireworks show.
We've decided that Bryce is just like Blair in every way. He was right there with Blair setting the fireworks up and then after they were done going off, he would run right up next to Blair to find the next one to light.
Needless to say that it scared me half to death, but he insisted on being right there with his daddy. Emily is much better than Bryce ever was about fireworks. Bryce hated them when he was her age. But Emily loves them. They don't scare her or anything. The noisy, whistling ones kind of got to her, but she was fine once she sat on someones lap and she just sat there and watched, then would clap after they were done.
By the time we got home, the kids were pretty beat and went right to bed. Blair and I were pretty beat too, but since we have such a good view from our loft window of the city fireworks, we decided to stay up and watch those. It is so nice and so convenient that we can sit in our air conditioned house in our p.j.'s to watch the big fireworks. It's great! The next day was my birthday. After being lazy all morning, we finally decided to get ready and head out to do something.
We decided to go to Winger's (one of our favorite places to eat) and get some dinner. Oh and if you ever go there, take the online survey with the code on your receipt and the next time you go, you get a free Avalanche Pie - which is SO delicious!!!
It is totally my weakness! After we ate, we went to Trafalga. We had talked about taking Bryce there to do miniature golfing and we hadn't gone yet, so we figured that this was a perfect time to go. They have changed it to be a black lighted course (the course is the same, it just glows now! :) ). Bryce loved it and he did quite well. He was also the only one that got a hole in one (seriously!)! And not only that, but it was on probably the hardest hole there! (It took me about 10 putts on this same hole and Bryce sure showed me up!)
It was kind of hard with Emily because she wanted to crawl around everywhere, but we still had a lot of fun. Even though we didn't do a whole lot, it was still a great birthday!
